About this filter
Ghost Recon Wildlands drops a squad of Ghosts into a fictionalized Bolivia, and the writing leans hard into the chatter of a war zone: clipped radio calls, profanity-laced banter between teammates, and the constant cross-talk of cartel enforcers and local police. Because the game is set in Bolivia, the English release carries a large amount of Spanish ambient audio baked right into the English build — NPC radio chatter and enemy combat barks that you hear even with the game set to English. That mix of hard-edged English dialogue and untranslated Spanish street talk makes Wildlands a difficult game to keep on in a room with kids around, or simply for anyone who would rather the open world stay tense without the running stream of swearing. This filter is for players who already own the game and want to keep the firefights and the story while turning down the language.
The filter works on two surfaces, English-only in scope. On the audio side, 3,235 voice clips are treated — 3,221 loose files plus 14 embedded inside the game's sound banks — so the flagged word is silenced at the exact moment it is spoken while the surrounding speech, gunfire, and sound effects stay intact; this covers the English voice lines, the Spanish NPC radio and enemy combat barks that ship inside the English build, and a DLC voice archive that had never been covered before. On the text side, 4,443 on-screen subtitle lines are masked in place — 2,406 in the patch subtitle file and 2,037 in the base game file — with full-word replacement so the flagged words are hidden while the rest of each line reads normally. The categories addressed are strong profanity and sexual and crude language, in both English and the Spanish ambient audio. Non-profane Spanish callouts, music, ambient effects, and the vast majority of dialogue are left exactly as recorded.
Every change was built from a verified backup of your own files and applied by a small installer that auto-detects your Steam or Ubisoft Connect copy, writes the muted audio and masked subtitles in place, and can restore the originals on demand. The audio mutes re-encode valid Wwise audio rather than blanking the stream, and each modified package and subtitle slot was hash-checked end to end; this release also fixed four mutes that existed in earlier versions but never actually played silent, because the game's own patch files were overriding them with unmuted copies. The combined audio-and-text result passed an in-game smoke test on 2026-08-11, verified against game build v1.24.0. Left untouched: the story, the voice performances, the music, the gameplay, your saves, achievements, and progress, and all non-English localizations. DLC coverage stays partial — the Fallen Ghosts DLC English audio, the game's other DLC audio archives, and Bink 2 cutscene audio are outside this release's scope. The filter is single-player only — Wildlands uses Easy Anti-Cheat online, so restore the original files before connecting to multiplayer or Ghost War PvP.
What Was Changed
- 3,235 voice clips (3,221 loose files plus 14 embedded inside the game's sound banks, with no overlap between them): the flagged word is silenced at the exact moment it's spoken while the surrounding speech and SFX stay intact. This covers English voice lines, the Spanish NPC radio chatter and enemy combat barks baked into the English build (the game is set in Bolivia, so the English version carries substantial Spanish ambient audio), and a DLC voice archive that was never covered before.
- On-screen English text: 4,443 subtitle lines are masked in place — 2,406 in the patch subtitle file and 2,037 in the base game file — so the flagged words are hidden while the rest of each line is unchanged.
- Non-profane Spanish callouts, music, ambient SFX, achievements, saves, and game progress are all left exactly as shipped.
What Was NOT Changed
The story, voice performances, music, and gameplay are exactly as Ubisoft Paris shipped them — only the flagged words change. Non-profane lines are left alone, and saves, achievements, and progress are not modified. DLC coverage is partial: one DLC voice archive is now filtered, but the Fallen Ghosts DLC English audio and the game's other DLC audio archives remain outside this release's scope, along with Bink 2 cutscene audio and non-English localizations.
